The church exists to connect people to Jesus. We believe that He is what we all are searching for, even if we don't know we're searching.
Matthew 20:28 says that Jesus came not to be served but to serve and to give His life a ransom for many. Therefore, we believe that the gospel is best communicated when it is accompanied by sacrificial service. We are choosing to follow His example by finding ways to serve our community.
The church exists to help the body grow strong in faith and knowledge by interaction. Even though He loves us just as we are, He doesn't intend to leave us that way. It's not about us becoming clones of some religious leader with a fist full of rules but it's about us becoming more like Jesus.
Matthew 10:25 says that it is enough for the disciple that he becomes as his teacher. So we have our sights set on being like Jesus. We value the development of ongoing relationships and the practice of spiritual disciplines. We hope to love each other enough to make it difficult not to grow up into Him.
The church exists to serve God by serving the needs of this world. Therefore, the process comes full circle when we get involved in providing that same experience for others.
1 Corinthians 12:7 says that everyone has been given evidence of the Spirit for everyone else's benefit. We believe that it will take all of us to be the healthy Church that God wants us to be. God has given each of us a unique part to play. As more of us discover that unique place and jump in, the healthier the Church becomes.
